Robert Longo, amazing artist from NY

I love charcoal (fusain pour les français!) and I use it quite often when I draw.
Last month at the FIAC in Paris, I saw a big picture (3m x 5m!) and then I realised it wasn't a picture but a drawing made with charcoal! I wish I could do this!
Look at it! It's amazing!

Look at his website if you want to learn more about Robert Longo : www.robertlongo.com

Discounts from La Fourchette.com

You want to go out but you cannot spend too much money?

Here is the solution: the website LaFourchette.com gives you a nice discount in many restaurants. Go in their page 'Promotions' and you will see the different offers, the best plan is 50% off the bill!!!! It usually includes everythings except the liquids (wine, cocktails...).

So with such a discount you can go to very nice restaurant for a very little amount of money, or you can take entrée-main course-dessert without hesitation!

The only thing you need to do, is to book the table from the website, it takes you less time than calling the restaurant. You choose the date, the hour, the number of person and after you will receive a confirmation email from LaFourchette.com.

It's that easy!

I truly recommend you the restaurant Drôle d'Endroit pour Une Rencontre, I love it!

Madeleine Vionnet Exhibition at Les Arts Décoratifs

For the little story, Madeleine Vionnet is a dressmaker from the 1920's. She introduced the bias cut, and made very elegant and comfy designs inspired from the antique drapery.
She is still today very well-known in the fashion world, and she is a big source of inspiration for the designers of today.
If you are curious about fashion and couture, you might like it!
Here is a picture of a dress I really liked!

The exhibition goes on until January 31st 2010.

Musée des Arts Décoratifs
, 107 rue de Rivoli 75001 Paris. Closed on Mondays.

Wine and Bubbles

I recently discovered this nice wine bar in the very center of Paris. Its concept is to be a bar in a shop. They have a huge range of different bottles from all over the world.
In addition to the wine, you can also order at the bar a plates of cheeses and sweet pies. I guess strangers will love it! It sounds like the typical french meal : wine, cheese and bread!
The
atmosphere is nice, cosy and trendy, the bar tender is cool and welcoming, and you are surrounded by big plate glass windows which is quite pleasant!

And I must underline that they do very attractive prices : in the shop, you can get a bottle of wine for 5€ and a bottle of champagne for 13€. And at the bar, the first price for a glass of wine is 4€ and 24€ for a bottle.

MacBook protection

As I have been knitting a lot for a recent school project, I pay attention to all the knitted things I see in shops.
And I found something in an unexpected place: the computer accessories row of the Fnac! It is a computer case made by CaseLogic, with knitwear as you can see on the picture. Much more original than all the boring ones we usually see!

I saw it at the Fnac store, in the Forum des Halles (Price: 29,9€). Metro: Les Halles

Berko, the patisserie

If you are fond of food this is for you!

When I was living in New York, I discovered amazing pastries, and I was particularly a big fan of their cupcakes!!
The best ones in Manhattan are at the Magnolia Bakery and at Podunk. But since I came back to Paris, I really miss it. But now this time is over, I discovered Berko in Paris!

Berko is a very sweet patisserie where there is an amaizing amount of different cupcakes, cheesecakes, and also other french patisseries. They also do soups, salads and salty tarts for lunch, quite easy to take away.

Berko, 23 rue Rambuteau 75004 Paris, Metro: Rambuteau or Hotel de Ville

Epicerie de la cour, 75010

I think this place in the best spot for lunch near my school. I loooove it. It is very welcoming, extremely good, cheap, and it makes you feel at home, as if your grand mother prepared you a little snack. I tried the grilled bagel with mozarella, sun-dried tomatoes and coppa, delicious! + a freshly home-made carrot salade. This was just to give you an idea of what you can have, but there is also more different bagels and salades, and also quiches, cakes etc...
You will love it!

Also, you should go there not only for the food but also for their very nice little 'boutique', which is linked to the Epicerie. You can find there many ideas of presents, to offer or just for you! like little purses, baby bootee, fantasy jewels... mostly for girls and children.

So if you are in the 10th arrondissement, around the street Rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis, stop by it!

Rosa Bonheur, guinguette parisienne

The Rosa Bonheur is an amazing place, hidden in the Park des Buttes Chaumont in Paris. It is at the same time a bar, a canteen, and also a real restaurant, a place to dance etc...

You start by having a few drinks will eating some tapas, and you end up dancing like crazy in the middle of the bar which became crowded. There is lots of tables outside, so it is a great place to keep in mind for the summer!
I particularly enjoyed the view from the Rosa Bonheur, you see not only all the trees of the park but also Montmartre far away and big buildings all enlightened.

Rosa Bonheur, Avenue de la Cascade, Parc des Buttes Chaumont, 75019 Paris.
