Unfortunately I can't tell you about the amazing things we are doing at work for the next collection at work, but I will try to write once a week about my life in London and keep this blog alive! ;-)

I found this old add from the underwear label Jil in an old magazine from the 1960's. A special collection of t-shirts inspired from the zodiac signs, with nice graphic designs and typography, and also very funny sentences like "Balzac liked peanuts, so do I", "I am strong but I like roses"..

J'ai découvert les magnifiques illustrations d'Emma Cowlam dans la boutique du musée Victoria & Albert à Londres.
Diplômée il y à 2 ans de la Chealsea Art School en textile design, Emma Cowlam réalise des illustrations uniques, cousues à la main, en s'inspirant de la mode Londonienne, de la rue, des magazines de modes ou encore des défilés.
Elle a réalisé une série d'illustrations en exclusivité pour le V&A, qui sont actuellement exposés et vendues dans le magasin principal du musée.

I discovered the amazing work of Emma Cowlam at the shop of the Victoria &Albert Museum.

She graduated 2 years ago from the Chealsea Art School textile design. Each illustration is unique with inspiration coming from the London fashion scene, this could be a figure seen on the street, in a fashion magazine or on the catwalk.

She made several illustrations in exclusivity for the V&A, they are currently exhibited and sold in the main shop of the museum.

Ce matin, étant de passage à Londres, je suis allée voir l'exposition 'Postmodernism, Style and Subversion 1970-1990' au Victoria & Albert Museum.
Exposition passionnante et très complète qui montre à quel point ce mouvement artistique a eu une énorme influence sur l'art, l'architecture, la mode, le design, la musique, vidéos etc.
J'ai adoré les images de Jean-Paul Goude de Grace Jones (dont la 1ère juste en dessous), j'ai hâte de voir sa prochaine exposition à Paris.

This morning, as I was in London, I went to see the exhibition 'Postmodernism, Style and Subversion 1970-1990' at the Victoria & Albert Museum.

This exhibition is fascinating and very complete, and shows to what extent this artistic movement had a huge influence in art, architecture, fashion, design, music, videos etc...

I love Jean-Paul Goude's pictures of Grace Jones (one just below), I can't wait to see his coming exhibition in Paris.

La fameuse boutique The Collection rue de Poitou dans le Marais invite Famille Summerbelle à présenter tous ces nouveaux produits pendant tous le mois de novembre.
Le vernissage avait lieu ce soir! Plein d'admirateurs de Famille Summerbelle sont venus au rendez-vous, tous enthousiastes devant les nouveaux plans découpés au laser produits en exclusivité pour l'évènement (qui sont juste magnifiques!), les nouveaux papiers peints, le nouveau plan de San Francisco etc!
Pour ceux qui n'ont pas pu venir, ça dure 1 mois, alors il est encore temps d'aller y faire un tour!

Quand j'ai visité le musée de la photographie d'Anvers (Fomu) j'ai notamment vu une exposition sur le Visionaire.
Plus qu'un magazine, le Visionaire est un album de mode et d'art au format variable, produit en série limitée numérotée. On y trouve le travail d'artistes connus ou émergents venant du monde entier, mais aussi de personnalités, de créateurs, de directeurs artistiques et de photographes.
Ricardo Tisci à été le directeur artistique du dernier numéro. Il a invité différents artistes à travailler autour d'un thème et d'en donner leur propre interprétation.

When I went to Antwerpen Photography museum (Fomu) I saw a great exhibition about the Visionaire.

More than a magazine it is an album of fashion and art produced in exclusive numbered limited editions and in multi-format. It mixes works from famous and emerging artists from around the world as well as personalities, fashion designers, art directors, and photographers.

The art direction of the last issue was entirely given to Ricardo Tisci. He invited several artist to work on a theme and to give their personal interpretations.

Before riching Eindhoven me made a 24h stop at Antwerpen. Lovely tiny city, the belgium capital of fashion. We strolled all day : flea market, antique shops, design and fashion designers shops, and we visited the Fomu, Antwerpen photography museum.

Pour les amateurs de friperies et les passionnés de vêtements comme moi, 'Les Georgettes' est un superbe vintage store qui s'est récemment installé dans le Marais.
Ce n'est pas une friperie comme les autres, ici le choix des vêtements est bien réfléchi, il n'est pas question d'entasser des vêtements sans intérêts. On y trouve plein de vêtements très très intéressants, dès que j'y mets les pieds j'ai envie de dévaliser la boutique.
L'accueil est sympathique, les vêtements sont bien présentés et vous avez des soldes permanentes au sous sol!

For second-hand clothes shops fans and clothes lovers like me, Les Geogettes is a fantastic vintage store that recently opened in Le Marais in Paris.

It is a different vintage store, not like most of them, here they really worked on the choice of the clothes they present, there is no way to pile up clothes without any interest.You really find many interesting garments, every time I stop by I want to clean out the shop entirely.

Warm welcome, the clothes are well presented and there is permanent sales in the basement!

Dirk van der Kooij is one of the talented designers invited in residence at Piet Hein Eek workshop-factory in Eindhoven.

He programmed an old industrial robot to print chairs in one seamless motion, out of old recycled refrigerators. The result is this famous Endless Rocking chair! Have a look to the video to understand the manufacturing process.

Me voilà de retour de la 10ème édition de la Dutch Design Week à Eindhoven (Hollande), la tête remplie de design, d'idées, de couleurs, et de différentes matières...! Je ne vais pas essayer de vous montrer tout ce que j'ai vu et aimé parce que ça serait beaucoup trop long!
Le temps d'une semaine, le design envahi toute la ville d'Eindhoven. Les usines abandonnées de Philips sont transformées en lieu d'exposition. La Design Academy d'Eindhoven expose les projets de fin d'études de ses meilleurs étudiants. Amateurs et passionnés de design parcourent la ville en vélo pour découvrir le travail de nombreux designers.
Nous avons commencé notre périple par l'atelier/usine du talentueux designer Piet Hein Eek. En plus de son atelier, il a créé un lieu d'exposition, une boutique, un café-restaurant et des ateliers pour inviter d'autres designers à résidence...

I am back from Dutch Design week in Eindhoven in Holland, the head full of design, ideas, colors, and different materials!I won't try to show you all the things I have seen and loved because it would be much too long to do so!

During one week design overrun Eindhoven's city. The old Philips factories are turned into an exhibition space. The Design Academy of Eindhoven exhibits the final year projects of its best students. Amateurs and passionates of design go all over town to discover the work of many talented designers.

We started our visit by the workshop-factory of the great designer Piet Hein Eek. In addition to his workshop, he created an exhibition space, a shop, a coffee-shop/restaurant and small workshops to invite other young designers in residence.

This tiny concept store ironically called Centre Commercial (= shopping center in French), offer a wide range of products respecting fair trade principles. You can find there womenswear, menswear, shoes (in particular Veja's collection) but also books, and other various items. All that is a nicely designed space, with rough walls and neon lights sculptures for a contemporary atmosphere.

Look - New collection

Avant de faire de beaux vélos, la marque Look faisait des fixations de skis. Elle revient maintenant à sa première passion et lance une toute nouvelle ligne de prêt-à-porter hiver.
A l'occasion du lancement de la collection et de leur première boutique au 217 rue St-Honoré à Paris, juste à coté de chez Colette, j'ai pu découvrir la fameuse collection, des belles doudounes, des jolis petits pulls jacquard, des boots pour marcher dans la neige et j'en passe! ;-)
Après une petite fiesta avait lieu juste en face dans un garage totalement réaménagé pour l'occasion, où le champagne coulait à flot, et l'arrivée de célébrités incessante au grand bonheur des photographes!

Before creating great bikes, Look used to make bindings for skis. Now the label come back to its first passion and launch a brand new ready-to-wear winter collection.
For the launching of this collection and the opening of their first shop at 217 rue St-Honoré in Paris, right next to Colette concept store, I had the occasion to discover this much talked-about collection, with nice jackets, lovely Jacquard sweaters, boots to walk in the snow and many other things!
After, a little party was happening right in front in a garage especially converted for the occasion, Champagne was flowing freely, the arrival of celebrities was constant to the delight of photographers!

J'adore le travail photographique The Grid qui met en évidence des répétitions omniprésentes de notre monde postindustriel et qui a servit d'inspiration à la dernière collection de Veja, la marque écologique de baskets.
J'aime beaucoup cette collection. Cet été, j'ai craqué pour le modèle gris Moonrock en cuir écologique et caoutchouc sauvage d'Amazonie. La fameuse semaine de juillet où il n'a pas arrêté de pleuvoir sur toute la France et pendant laquelle je n'avais que des nu-pieds à me mettre, bonne excuse pour investir dans une belle paire de Veja ;-).

I love the photographic work The Grid, series of geometrical aesthetics from our post industrial world, that inspired Veja The Grid, the last collection of Veja, the ecological and fair trade french footwear brand.

I love this collection. This summer, I couldn't resist for the grey model Moonrock made of vegetable-tanned leather and wild rubber from the Amazon. Last July it was raining during an entire week everywhere in France and I only had sandals to wear, so it was a good reason to buy a nice pair of Veja ;-).

A l'occasion de la Nuit Blanche 2011 samedi soir, j'ai eu la chance d'assister au concert du groupe Hifana, réputé pour ses performances live particulièrement originales, au cours desquelles ils balancent un breakbeat saccadé, aux sonorités hip hop ou jazzy, agrémenté d'une multitude d'influences dont la musique traditionnelle japonaise.
J'ai particulièrement aimé leur morceau inspiré de la musique africaine, revisité par des Djs japonais ça donne un résultat assez impressionannt!
C'était un moment assez incroyable! On en avait aussi pleins les yeux, les Djs étaient filmés, les images étaient retransmises en direct sur un écran géant au-dessus d'eux, mélangées à des vidéos assez hallucinantes!
Ils ont même créé leur propre application Ipad donc si vous avez envie de vous amuser à composer des morceaux de musique électronique, téléchargez-la! Je l'ai essayée c'est assez marrant!

Last Saturday, on the occasion of the famous Parisian event Nuit Blanche 2011, I was lucky to attend the concert of Hifana, is a Japanese breakbeat musical duo, well-known for there live show performances, liven up with many different influences like Japanese traditional music.

They made a particularly good song where they mix African style of music and their Japaneese electronic music. The result is just awesome!

It was a fantastic moment! It was also eyeful, the Djs were filmed and the images were directly broadcast on a big screen over them, mixed with great videos!

Hifana even created their own Ipad application, so if you want to start to play electronic music, download it! I tried it and it is quite funny actually!

I made some short videos to give you an idea!

Petit paradis des rois des graffiti, Génération 400ml est une boutique qui vend des bombes de peinture de 400ml comme son nom l'indique. Vous y trouvez environ 200 teintes différentes à des prix défiants toutes concurrences.
J'adore y mettre les pieds, voir ces dégradés de couleurs ça donne juste envie de toutes les essayer!
Pour ceux qui veulent repeindre un objet ou un meuble sans trop se fatiguer je vous conseille d'aller y faire un petit tour.

Je ne sais si vous vous souvenez de cette photo que j'avais postée en mars dernier.

C'est une photo de l'oeuvre du peintre américain Gene Davis connu pour ses rayures. Il avait repeint cette fameuse rue de Washington dans les années 60.

Et bien la semaine dernière quand je suis allée au salon du Prêt -à-Porter de Paris et que j'ai vu le tapis géant à rayures multicolore à l'entrée, j'ai immédiatement fait le lien avec l'oeuvre de Gene Davis.

Je préfère l'original ;-)

I don't know if you remember this photo I had posted 7 months ago.

It is a picture of the work of the American painter Gene Davis known for his stripes. He had repainted this famous street of Washington in the 60s.

Last week when I went to the trade show Prêt-à-porter Paris I saw the huge carpet with multicolored stripes at the entrance, it immediatly reminded me Gene Davis artwork.

Voici une autre photo que j'ai découpée cet été dans mes vieux magazines des années 60.
En rentrant de vacances, j'ai regardé la collection resort 2012 de Prada et j'ai découvert exactement le même imprimé! À croire que Muccia Prada a les mêmes magazines au fond de sa cave ;-)

Je suis fan de cette collection. Un bon mélange de styles inspirés des années 40, 50 et 60. J'adore la gamme de couleurs, c'est frais et coloré. J'aime aussi beaucoup les petits blousons Baracuta avec les empiècements de couleurs différentes.

Si vous aimez ces grandes chaussettes blanches y'a les mêmes en ce moment chez H&M!

When I came back from summer holidays, I looked at the resort collection on 2012 of Prada and I discovered exactly the same print! I wonder if Muccia Prada has the same magazines in her cellar! ;-)

By the way, I find this collection very seductive. A great mix of inspirations from the 40's, 50's and 60's. I love this fresh & colorful range of colors. I also really like the Baracuta jackets with its contrast yoke.

J'ai eu la chance d'être invitée à participer à l'espace tendances Trendswash du Salon Prêt-à-porter Paris.

L'espace était réparti en 3 zones, exposition de vêtements, vidéo et un défilé qui avait lieu plusieurs fois par jour pour présenter les tendances du printemps été 2012.

I was lucky to be invited to participate to Trendswash, a special space dedicated to the next trends at the fashion trade show Salon Prêt-à-porter Paris.

The space was divided in 3, exhibition of clothes, video and a fashion show happening several times a day, and presenting the trends of the spring/summer 2012.

J'ai notamment dégoté ces 3 beaux foulards avec de jolis détails. J'adore particulièrement le premier.

J'ai aussi trouvé 3 petites robes très intéressantes que je vous montrerai un autre jour.

J'adore ces baskets complétement folles, pleines de paillettes, de la prochaine collection hiver de Miu Miu.

La marque lance 5 différents modèles de baskets, inspirées des chaussures de tennis, pomponnées de strass, paillettes, et petit clous. Tellement kitsch, j'adore! ;-)

Elles sont apparemment éditées en rose, or, argent et noir.

Même en baskets on est so chic avec Miu Miu!

J'aime aussi beaucoup la version à talons que j'ai découvert lors du défilé et sur le blog de Garance Doré. Elles sont canon!

Très marrante cette nouvelle campagne de Lanvin pour la collection de l'hiver prochain.

Le choix de la musique est assez surprenant, et les mannequins n'ont pas la souplesse de vrais danseurs mais ça rend la vidéo d'autant plus drôle!

Un peu d'humour ça fait plaisir!

En parlant de fleurs, je suis tombée sur une photo (la première en dessous) sur le blog Lloso. Au début j'ai cru voir un imprimé fleuri style japonais, et c'est en regardant de plus prêt que j'ai réalisé qu'il s'agissait d'une photo de feu d'artifice.

Ça m'a rappelé que j'avais pris ces photos d'un feu d'artifice à la campagne l'été dernier...

J'aime bien l'idée de les utiliser comme motif, ça ferait un joli imprimé, en l'utilisant à grande échelle comme à petite échelle.

Speaking about flowers, I fell on a picture (the first one below) on Lloso's blog. At the beginning I saw a print of flowers in a Japanese kind of style, but then I looked more closely and I realized that it was actually a picture of fireworks.

It reminded me that I had taken these photos of a fireworks in the countryside last summe...

I like the idea to use them for a pattern, it would make a very nice print for a garment, using it at a large-scale or at a small-scale.

Me revoilà! Désolée pour cette petite absence, mais il fallait que je débranche un peu! J'avais besoin d'un peu de vacances après cette année intense, afin de recharger mes batteries pour la rentrée.

Me voilà de retour en grande forme, le teint un peu doré, le sourire Colgate, prête à vous partager plein de choses qui me plaisent et m'inspirent...!

Et qui dit rentrée, dit un peu de nouveauté, non?!

Alors pour mes fidèles lecteurs de l'Hexagone, je vais écrire en français. Et toujours en anglais aussi, je n'oublie pas mes lecteurs des quatre coins du monde, of course ;-).

Après un été plein de couleurs, j'ai la tête pleine de fleurs.

Here we are!
This two crazy years of studies at the Studio Berçot come to an end tonignt with a great fashion show at the event Haute Cuisine Paris, a cultural theatre of culinary curiosity, which take place in Paris from 7th-10th July in the gardens of Palais Royal, during the Haute Couture collections.

Many students participated, making one garment or an entire look. The result is stunning and extremely creative, I can't wait to see the show!!
Unfortunately the event is not open to the public, so I will make sure to get great pictures to share this with you!

Last Thursday night was a special day for some parisians...
The annual clandestine dining party "Le Diner en Blanc" happened!
All picnickers come all dressed entirely in white, with they chic picnic set including white tablecloth, candles, cutlery brought from home, good food and champagne.
The location is kept secret until the very last moment. Guests discover the location; always in one of the most beautiful places of Paris; more or less 30 minutes before.
Just a few hours to enjoy it at 00h30 AM everybody has to leave the place!
At 11h00 PM all the crowd light up the sparklers, such a crazy moment! People dance, such a great atmosphere!
Live bands play in the background to crowds of over 12,000 (this year, for the first time they split the crowd in 2, 6000 were in La Cour Carrée of Le Louvre, and 6000 in front of Notre-Dame).
Every year the place is different (2010: on La Place de la Concorde; 2009: on the Champs-Elysées...)

Masked ball !

This weekend we went to a fantastic wedding quite uncommon...!
The party was a masked ball! After the cocktail everyone got changed and put on his mask for the dinner and party...
I made our masks myself, all by hand, as the bride and groom requested me!
I used paint, feathers, paper cut, fabric and leather.

I went to the southwest of France for a great wedding last weekend. On our way back to Bordeaux, we passed by la dune du Pyla (the largest sand dune in Europe!) to take the sun by the seaside ;-).
We stopped by the nice and trendy restaurant la Corniche, with this amazing tilings.
I love it.
I also loved the view from the terrace, look at my picture (i took it, it is not a postal card ;-)

I love this place! The Cloth House is a fantastic place for buying great fabrics, buttons etc. It is located in Soho, on Berwick street. It is a little bit expensive, but they have such a good range of products... They also have a second shop in the same street.
I love to come and spend time in this shop everytime I go to London. They have many products I don't find in Paris...

I went to see Tracey Emin's exhibition last weekend in London. It was really interesting and inspiring. It is really worth it to go. I particularly loved all her big patchworks, which is for me the best part of her artworks.
